Simplicity

I have been drawing and colouring copied cartoon images from children's books and the Internet for some months now, looking to recreate emotions that I feel. Sometimes, after copying a drawing, I draw it later from my mind's eye, adding details to express changed emotions and feelings.

I have spent many early mornings, and cafe hours focused on a drawing, anchored by a pencil or by a crayon, intent on recreating some of my inner world even if my skills do not allow me to shape the exactness of my perceptions.

Happily, last December, I found a Udemy drawing course (The Ultimate Drawing Course by Jaysen Batchelor) on sale for something like 12 dollars. I finally was ready to start it today. Here, then, are today's drawings:

Reflection: in my amateur drawings, I have found a parallel with how I see language learning can be: experimental, changing, an opportunity to explore and express feelings- without evaluation, without being a expert, without progress being assessed by number grades -simply out of delight in the process: lightheartedly and passionately communicating through new sounds the inner world. Rather glorious.
